Robert Royston

Robert Royston has been successfully involved in the entertainment industry in every capacity for over twenty years.  Mr. Royston has performed in, as well as produced and choreographed, theater productions, television, music videos and film and has run several dance related production companies.

Mr. Royston began his career on the couples competitive dance circuit in 1989 where within six short years he had won the US Open Swing Dance Championship and World Country Dance Championship, titles he held for four consecutive years (1995 to 1998).  He also holds national titles in Salsa, Hustle, Adagio and Cabaret. In 2007, Mr. Royston became the youngest person ever inducted into the United Country Western Dance Council Hall of Fame.

His exciting, high energy and original work soon caught the attention of the music video world.  In 1996, Mr. Royston began producing, directing and choreographing music videos for musicians such as Shine Them Buckles by The Bellamy Brothers and Roger Brown’s Swing City.  Mr. Royston most recently choreographed Taylor Swift’s new music video, Love Story and will be choreographing her national tour.

Mr. Royston launched his theatrical career with the Broadway show, Swing! in 1999.  He spent a year and a half appearing in Swing! performing his own choreography, and later became the assistant choreographer for the first National Tour of the production.  In 2002 Royston created and produced the critically acclaimed show SWANGO: The Musical.  He co-choreographed the production as well as starred as the lead dancer.  The show ran in New York as a cabaret, and then expanded to a full show when three-time Tony Award winning librettist Rupert Holmes joined the creative team to write the script for the production.  Royston also choreographed live performances for Taylor Swift, Sugarland and Kelly Pickler at the 2009 Country Music Awards.

Currently Royston has completed producing and choreographing a new movie titled, Love n’ Dancing (starring Amy Smart) and recently co- produced "The World Championships of Country Dance” television special for the Great American Country network.  He has also choreographed Lakeshore Entertainments two new feature films Game (starring Gerard Butler and Michael C. Hall) and Crank 2 (Starring Jason Statham and Amy Smart)

Mr. Royston is an internationally recognized judge and instructor and teaches 22 different styles of couples dancing.  He makes his home base at Dance Manhattan in N.Y. and in addition to RoRo Films, also runs Double R Dance Entertainment LLC, and RoRo Productions (RoRoPro.com), as well as his dance company, RDC.

Although choreography remains his first passion, Mr. Robert’s current focus is on developing film projects through his production company, RoRo Films.
